Review and Giveaway of King Arthur Flour!- Closed

Our winner is Geri S.  Congrats!!

I was able to review King Arthur White Whole Wheat Flour and Premium 100% Whole Wheat Flour.  Here’s what I think – Love them!  Their flours are never bleached and never bromated.  Here are some interesting facts about the company: they were founded in 1790. To put it into context, George Washington had just been elected to his first term in office and they are 100% employee-owned.  How neat is that? They are located up in Vermont.

By the way, if you want to know specifically where your flour is coming from they have videos on their site of the farmers who grow their wheat! How many people can say they’ve seen the farmers who actually grow the wheat they buy. If you want to meet the farmers click here. All of the farms are located in the US.

They hold classes in Vermont and do travel if you’re wanting to learn new things about cooking. You can check out their schedule here.

They have all kinds of flour from All-purpose to gluten free. I found their wheat flours to be light and airy.  I could really tell the difference in the Zucchini bread I made with the White Whole Wheat flour I used texture and taste wise.  They have a baking blog that gives instructions and about 200 recipes so if you’re looking for ideas check them out.

King Arthur is all about passing on the cooking tradition to kids so I decided to have a fun play-date with my cute little neighbors and my kiddos. The kids really loved getting involved.

Here’s the recipe:

3 cups white whole wheat flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
3 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp baking powder
3 eggs
2 cups white sugar
3 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup vegetable oil
3 cups grated zucchini

1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2.  Sift together flour, salt, soda, cinnamon, baking powder. 3.  Beat eggs. Add and mix well sugar, vanilla, and oil.  Add zucchini to egg mixture. Add dry ingredients, mixing well.  4. Bake 2 large pans for 1 hour. ** I doubled this recipe to make enough for 4 small loaf pans for the kiddos and 1 large pan. The small pans only take about 35-40 mins. Just check them with a toothpick.

In this giveaway you’ll receive 1 bag of Premium 100% Whole Wheat Flour and 1 bag of White Whole Wheat Flour. It’s open to US and Canada residents only. Please leave a comment for every entry. 1. I would love to win this giveaway. I use king arthur flour all the time. I make a yummy strawberry and banana bread with this flour

  2. I make different variations of waffles and put them in the freezer. Then I take a big batch over to my sister. She is a working mom and mornings are hectic. She has an special needs son and part of it is being a very picky eater. He loves the waffles and I am able to fortify them with protein powder and extra eggs.

  3. I just got a bread machine at a yard sale that actually works! It looks like new. I want to make Oatmeal Molasses or Honey Wheat bread.

  4. I “liked” King Arthur on Facebook, signed up for their newsletter, and joined their Baking Circle online.

  5. With a family of eight, including five boys, we go through a loaf of homemade bread every day. I’ve heard good things about King Arthur flour, and would be delighted to try some.

  6. I would make the Oatmeal Bread recipe they have posted on their website. I’ve made that recipe three times now and we just love it. I substitute whole white wheat flour for the bread flour.

  7. KA flour is really the best! I’m a recent convert! I love to use it most when baking breads, muffins and cookies.
