Some Days I Like to Run Up Hills

Say what? Have I lost my mind? No, there are days when I actually like running up hills. Hills are challenging and you have to dig deep to get up them.  I like feeling the power in my thighs when I feel myself powering up a hill. When my muscles are working together to keep me going everything giggles less; especially my butt so it’s such a wonderful feeling. :)

This morning my C25k had me running 6 minutes walking 5 three times.  Two out of the 3 6 minute running segments included the big hill in my neighborhood.  Instead of dreading it I looked at it as making my big booty that much smaller and tighter.  I only have roughly 64 days until I do the Marine Corp Mud Run again this year and I know  it’s going to take a lot of hill running to get ready for it.  I feel like I was in better shape last year at this time and this race still kicked my butt so I have to stay focused and push myself all that I can.  The scariest part for me is that I’m running as part of team and you have to finish together to make it count.  I’m running with 2 guys and another girl and I don’t want to be the weak link. I’m sure they’ll be faster than me (everyone always is) but I don’t want them to get to exasperated. So bring on the hills.

After running/walking I moved on to my Chalene Extreme workout. I’m on the last week of the burn phase and will be starting the Push phase Monday. I’ll do that for a month and finish with the Lean phase.  I’ve already lost some weight and just love the program. I’m hoping all the weight training will tone me up and help me pull myself up through the rope obstacles of the race.
