I have to admit I love a dessert after dinner most nights. My biggest love is apple pie. Since we are down at the beach this week I bought an apple pie ready to bake. It’s vacation time so no making from scratch for me.
To make it extra special and since we’re having pie to begin with I decided to get some COOL WHIP Whipped Topping. It’s so creamy and yummy who would not want to use COOL WHIP?
One of the things I love most about COOL WHIP is how pretty it can make a dessert even when the pie comes out looking like this sad little broken slice. Am I the only one who can not get that first slice of pie out nicely. No matter what I try it always comes out looking like this or worse. Enter Cool Whip. Look how much prettier the pie looks with a dollop of COOL WHIP on it? Hides most of the cracks and spread and makes it look like an inviting yummy treat. My daughter helped me with this first piece and really only wanted the COOL WHIP portion. It’s a favorite with my whole family.
I try to keep COOL WHIP on hand at all times because my husband loves to bring home customers from work at a moments notice. Here is my go to recipe that you can do on any week night and come out looking like a star:
Puff Pastry Delight:
- Puff Pastry
- Fruit
- Chocolate syrup
- Cool Whip
- Powdered Sugar
I cut the puff pastry into portion size pieces and bake for about 15 minutes. The I pull it out and let it cool. Then I take one piece of pastry and put it on a plate. Add COOL WHIP. Then add sliced fruit like strawberries. And repeat one more time. Top with one last piece of pastry and sprinkle with powdered sugar and drizzle with syrup.
Now if you’re running low on fruit you can just use pastry, COOL WHIP, syrup and powdered sugar. It’s so good and so easy. I haven’t met anyone who doesn’t like it and it’s so quick to make. You keep the pastry and COOL WHIP in the freezer so you can always have them around.
You may have noticed I use the Lite COOL WHIP. It’s only 20 calories per serving and honestly I can’t tell the difference in taste. They also have a sugar-free version that is yummy. I just really like all the different COOL WHIPs and haven’t met one that doesn’t make one of my dessert’s sparkle.
