If your kids are bored this summer you might want to consider music as a way to keep hands busy and out of trouble. I found a really neat site called Great Scores. Their motto is to make music approachable and fun. The sell sheet music you can download so you never even have to go to a store. They arrange their sheet music by ability level and instrument so you don’t get something to hard or easy for your child or yourself!
Great Scores even has a blog where they feature fun music from The Muppets! They break down Mi Mi’s musical talents. I love this and it’s a great way to get kids to listen and like some of the classics like “Feelings”.
Another great source of info they have on their site are their guides. They have guides on Jazz, Jazz Backing Tracks and Scales and Arpeggios. They sell them for less than most people spend on a coffee from Starbucks! They really want to make music affordable for everyone.
They have an EXTENSIVE glossary on musical terminology in all different languages like French, German, Italian, and Jazz. The lists look long and complete and they break them down alphabetically making it a quick and easy search for you. I just love how organized it is.
The other handy fact I think is the fact that they take paypal. I love paypal and think it’s so convenient for buying things online. I get very excited when I see more and more stores accepting it!
So if you have a child who has been wanting to learn or one that is already into music but needs some new music go visit them and keep those kiddos busy! Better busy playing music than trying to figure out how to turn Mom’s car on and take it for a spin. lol
