The Kia Optima Hybrid is anything but ordinary. It has a lot of features you normally only find on luxury vehicles like leather, Sirus and dual skylights. The first thing I like about this car is the color. It’s very appealing slate blue color. After having a black vehicle forever it’s nice to have a light colored car. They just look cleaner longer. The Kia Optima received the 2013 IIHS Top Safety Pick. As a mom I love that.
My first favorite feature with this car is it’s dual skylights. It has two big panoramic skylights in the car. One over the backseat and one over the front seat. Only the front seat actually opens but both shades open. All of the controls are in the front so if you have kids they can’t mess with it and I love that. Only want a little air? No problem. It opens as far as you want it too.
Another feature I love that makes sharing this car with your husband easy is the front seat. When you turn off the car it slides back making it very easy to get in an out of. My husband is always complaining when he tries to get into my vehicle about being scrunched until he can get the seat adjusted. With this feature you no longer have to worry about that.
The controls in the car are sleek and user friendly. You have them on the center panel and alot of them are also on the steering wheel. The less you have to take your hands off the wheel the better I say. This car comes equipped with 3 Sirus channel, 1 Fm, 1 FM2 and 1 AM channel so the music options are just about endless. You can even connect your phone to the blue tooth system. It has an ipod charger and two normal chargers in the front seat. Perfect to keep people from fighting over needing to charge up all of their devices.
The backseat was very comfortable and fit my two booster seats with room left over. I loved the leather which I think is a must when you have kids. It’s very easy to clean and looks great. The seats were roomy and I had plenty of knee room.
The car is very economic at 24/35 mpg. The Kia I reviewed was a hybrid meaning that it also ran on battery power. It had decent pick up but to be honest could be better. While you’re going it was very fast and responsive but when you come to a complete stop at a light or turn it would take a second to pick back up but once it did you were good to go.
All in all I really liked this car and some of it’s features and would def recommend taking it for a test drive if you were looking for a sedan size car.
Check out my short video that I did of the Kia Optima. I show you the car inside and out and give you a more detailed look at this fun car.
