I have gone through CPR training three times in my life, once when I was a teen, once through a past job and once when I was pregnant with my first child. I think it’s really important to learn CPR and keep it up-to-date so that you know what to do in an emergency. Constantly refreshing the course will help make it second nature so that you won’t panic if you are ever faced with an issue.
I found a great site called Be A Shield by ACLS National that takes you through 6 steps to refresh your training so that you know what to do incase you are faced with an emergency.
The 6 Steps They Cover Are:
- Access the situation
- Check for a pulse
- Chest Compressions
- Giving Rescue Breathes
- Heimlich Maneuver
- Identify and Treat a Heat Stroke
I refreshed myself and practiced some of the moves on my husband. Makes me feel better I’m one step closer to helping my family in case there is ever an issue. With summer here I really paid attention to the heat stroke page. We stay outside alot and knowing this makes me feel alot better. I plan on printing this graphic below out and putting it on my refrigerator. I’m adding it here so you can do the same.
I would really recommend visiting the website yourself because it gives great detailed information on what to do for each step for adults, children and infants plus gives great visual guides. It’s a site I’m definitely going to book mark and visit often to refresh my memory. Took less than 5 minutes to go through the steps and that is probably the best spent 5 minutes I spent this morning.
